I washed, clayed and waxed my car a couple of weeks ago, it's been sat in a garage since. Yesterday I had to take it out for a total of 3-5 minutes while it was raining. It was immediately put back into the garage and allowed to dry.

I went down to take a look today and the car looks filthy. It wasn't driven on the road in the rain at all, it was just on the drive for those few minutes.

Is it normal for rain to cause this much carnage on a freshly waxed car in such a short space of time?

Yep, pollutants in the air plus was it covered whilst in the garage as otherwise it will get dusty (I know, mine does).
It's not covered in the garage, it did have a very light covering of dust before I took it out but nowhere near as bad as after the rain.

I think maybe there were a lot of pollutants in the rain that day. I guess I'll take some glass cleaner to the engine bay cover and leave the rest till the next wash, it looks worst on the glass.
