Exhaust 'wax'?

I may be over-thinking this, but bear with me...

With bodywork, you polish to clean and wax to protect (simplified I know).

With my exhaust tips, I use metal polish to clean etc, but is there a wax equivalent I can use on them after, to keep them clean and shiny? I seem to have to polish them pretry much every wash
