Algae on Mini Convertible hood

The wife's Mini is getting a build-up of algae on the hood. It disappears for a day or so after washing the car, but then comes back. What's the best way to get rid permanently please?

Thanks chaps. As to avoiding parking somewhere dark and damp, I'm afraid that's the way London is these days.......
