So what are the chances of anyone actually getting sued? Surely anyone who gets a letter from the lawyer is just going to ignore it?

Not involved myself but reckon a few people I know will be getting letters.

Bibbs - what did the letter say you received, who from and what did it threaten? Interested to know what these look like.

Apparently the company who supplied the search bot thing stated in an interview with CNET that they ran their search from April to May 2014 so if you downloaded either side then I would think its outside of this action.

Also, the bush lawyer sentiments seem to be that Australia Consumer Law stops frivolous damages so most some people will be up for is the cost of the DVD and the lawyer charges - so perhaps a few $ hundred at a guess.

In addition DBC cant release the identity of who they think is downloading so by protecting the privacy i'm guessing they cant accuse an individual and if so can they therefore pursue action? I dont know.

What is known as this is going to be a given moving forward (being tracked).

For $4-7 a month a VPN is surely De-rigeur now. Stops adverts and avoids geoblocks so a few benefits.
