New to Sydney! Car advice
Discussion
New to this section of the forum - hello
So I emigrated to Sydney a few weeks ago and I'm thinking a car could be a great addition to enjoying the lifestyle here
I'm thinking something like a Jeep Wrangler TJ as they seem quite affordable for what you get!
I am struggling a bit to get my head round car ownership requirements compared to the UK - does anyone know where there's a good guide?
I understand there's the Rego, CTP, Tax, Stamp Duty and optional insurance. Where I'm a bit confused is, if I buy a car with say 6 months Rego and then transfer to my name do I also then need to pay for CTP and Tax or this all included in the Rego (i.e. I'll get 6 months CTP and Tax that the previous owner paid for)?

Thanks for the help on this.
I ended up with a Clio 172 mainly because I like them and it seemed comparatively good value/interesting compared to other cars in my price range. I also decided I didn't need a 4x4 like a Wrangler. I did look at a Jimny too but it just didn't have the power I'm used to.
So far so good - had a nice little run out to the Royal National Park at the weekend
