VW Scirocco - Australian release update

I contacted VW about the Scirocco's release. I got this rather pleasant response. Good on VW for actually responding:


Thank you for your email in relation to the exciting new Volkswagen Scirocco

The Volkswagen Scirocco is currently in the planning stages to be introduced into the Volkswagen vehicle range available in Australia.

I am unable to provide a firm release date as the vehicle is currently undergoing the various tests to ensure the vehicle is able to withstand the Australian conditions.

If the vehicle passes these tests, which we are hopeful it will pass, the Scirocco will be released in Australia either late 2009 or early 2010.

I suggest you keep in contact with your local authorised Volkswagen retailers sales department whom I am positive will be in the best position to keep you abreast of any new information as it becomes available.

Alternatively, periodically check the Volkswagen website, on which all new Volkswagen vehicles are announced on.

You can obtain your nearest retailers information via visiting our website, www.volkswagen.com.au and selecting the ‘contact a dealer’ tab.

Yeah its another one on my every growing list of tempted cars.

Would like a Golf Gti but this just seems slightly more casual.

Off to the UK in 2 weeks so gonna have a look at one there.

Also gonna drive at 140kmh but i know what a fearful speed this is and i might just die.

Well i was up for a Golf Gti but if they bring this in i will be very tempted with a white scirocco.

hmm, I think that i might have to do a 'custard test' of the 140kph in case any aussies believe you cant travel that fast without imploding....
