Did I see someone in here mention they were considering one recently?

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C311191

I have no association with this car. I was just doing my usual Lancia browsing.

I must say, if my current daily ('89 Golf GTI)suddenly went West I think I'd be on the phone about this one.

I always like the idea of these having an SC when they came out. I think about the only other new car that had one then was the TVR 390SX. I could be wrong on that detail...

Thanks BV. That is a fine looking car. I've always liked, since childhood in the late 60s / early 70s, the "HPE" style. First, the Volvo P1800 ES and then the Lancia a bit later. The long but low roofline is just so right to these eyes.

I think I'd struggle with that consumption in a daily but could hack it in a weekend and holidays car. It sounds like a pleasure to drive. Ta.

I loved the Beta HPEs and that is a great looking car. Still have the brochure in the attic, somewhere.

The more economical alternative was the Viva/magnum estate which actually suffered, in terms of sales, by having the sloping rear. Always liked them though.
That's a good call for another example of the type. Maybe this style gained popularity with the advent of rear window wipers!

BV, the grey is v fetching but I think the orangey red is nicer that some other reds.

Anyway, I usually keep cars pretty standard, and tend to think it unlikely that Joe Bloke in a garage can out think the engineering team at a manufacturer that has a well established reputation for making performance cars.
Copy that, BV. (in a crackly 70s CB trucker voice).

Oh, and btw, you utter bazzer for posting the blue IE ad. God that looks nice.

To be fair to Guy Croft, if you have ever spoken to the man, you will realise that it was the only way he saw fit to keep the "How come you can't give us 500bhp from me cinquequento for £250 quid like in FastCar, innit?" brigade from joining the forum or calling him constantly with ridiculous requests.

Nice chap, does not tolerate fools in the least but when you know what he knows, I would probably feel the same.
Fair comment, and I have no right or basis to doubt the man. It was more the presentation that was worth a quick laff.

PCD, go for the original green, it's a brill colour. Can you still get the decal set these days?

My dad had a couple of 2.0 GTV Alfettas a while back. They still look good on the rare times you see them now.

Christ, your old car has been passed round like the port recently. I posted a link to it at an auction house a couple of weeks ago after you let it go.

I blame BV for this recent rash of VXs and other Lampredi Lancias coming out of the shadows. Or it could be this thread. Oh...

I note with interest that the HPE 2000 IE for sale in Kent is now going at the knockdown rate of half price. Seems an MOT threw up some unforeseen issues. Did anyone go and see it and discover the problem?

Ta. Hopefully it'll end up in good hands.

I understand if you don't know or don't wish to say too much but was it mechanical or structural?

Unless my jaundiced view of the world is getting out of control, that VX up the gumtree is yellow. That wasn't a standard colour option, was it?

I'd like to be able to put one of those cryptic "you've got mail" messages. But you haven't. Well, not from me.

I'm sure it'll sell in a heartbeat probably to someone on this thread.
