My 2nd ever car at 18 was a rusty Alfasud, after many months of looking bought another this week and they are just as good as I remember....days of buying one for £350 are over though!!

Only 105 Bhp but twin webbers and that fantastic flat four and great grip make a really fun car to drive

Will do some pics when it stops raining!!

My Sud history is a 1.5 TiX, that was the £350 one...they were unloved, expensive to insure and maintain and the trade hated them hence their low prices back then....anyway that ones front subframe parted company with the rest of the car in two places and fell on the road just fastened by the back mountings frown

I then had a hearing aid beige Spint followed by a silver Trofeo limited edition...both those were good cars, handbrake cable snapped on one which was a pig to do!

The new car has been stored for 6 years, needs two new door bottoms welding in, apart from that very straight and almost rust free.

Put some new Golden Lodge (remember those) plugs in it yesterday and had it running...carbs need tuning and the chokes are stuck, should be easy to free off...the interior is mint with perfect green carpets ..going to get her MOT tested next week.

Ive had some really nice cars over the years ( 328, 458, R500, Elan Sprints etc) but can honestly say im as excited about this as any of them.....that Alfa flat four rasp is divine

Guilty as charged.......

I had a sud 5M in the late 70s. It was a fabulous car if only I had known it. Rust plus a cam belt failure took care of it but the major problem was neglect. I never serviced it and thrashed it senseless. Idiot child.

I recently decided to become involved in sud's again because in 10 years time they will either be gone or museum pieces. Last month I purchased this as a rolling resto;

I collected it from oop North and drove it all the way home (South Coast). It never missed a beat. It already had the rot cut out and replaced and the engine and gearbox are fine. I'm going to get the paint done and take the interior back to original cloverleaf. The final bill, including car will be somewhere around 4-5k but ask yourself.....how many modern cars put a big grin on your face and make you laugh like a lunatic?
Was that an ebay purchase?

I bid on a very similar car .....

Yes, eBay. I let me heart rule my head. There were so many logical reasons to ignore it but...........once these sud's are in your blood you tend to stop reasoning.
pretty sure I bid on that car myself.

Yes. I think I saw that one. Our cars were on eBay at the same time. From recollection you have less work to do than me! ;-)

Not sure about that! No MOT on mine, choke seized solid and a few fuel leaks to deal with and a bit of rust...good bits is a near perfect interior and carpets....if a pair of new old stock front wings come up for sale I might buy them...

I Thought I saw some NOS sprint wings on eBay the other day? Not cheap but they are available.

The NOS stock seems to be with a small number of enthusiasts OR specialist suppliers like Justsuds. The Alfaowner sud/sprint/33 forum is the best reference for the time being. The better posters are off to their own forum soon. Apologies if you know all this already. Good luck with the parts!
No I didn't know that, will keep an eye open for the new forum

Another former owner here -

£450 from ebay. chopped springs were replaced with proper ones, kept the loud stainless exhaust though, twin webers with k&ns sounded amazing. The service history was incredible - just about every panel on the car had been rust repaired and painted, and again, and again, the paintwork was a patchwork quilt and it needed doing again.

Eventually parted company with it after the clutch slave died and the towing eye pinged off in a cloud of rust when the recovery truck arrived. Cracking car though.
Love it.....they were cheap enough to throw away and buy another when they eventually fell to bits back then

Here's an 1983 Sprint Speciale I am about to sell...apologies for the two 155 Q4s in the background smile

And my later sprint, I prefer them without bumpers. just got to get around to changing the wheels!

Have NOS rear quarter and doors, NOS front inner wing chassis rails, AP Racing 4 pot front caliper setup for early sprint and some secondhand front wings as well for sale soon.

Can you give me some more details of the car thats for sale pls?

Update on my Sprint:

Did a few bits to it prior to MOT today

New fuel line front to back
A fuel pipe under bonnet
Un seized chokes on carbs
A couple of bulbs

Need two new exhaust sections as they are bodged up, and a windscreen washer motor as this one s broken.

Nice to take an old Alfa for MOT and not have yellow chalk marks all over the underside!!

I had a 82 Tix limited edition, the engine on that was unreal, absolutely flew, but fell to piece and was scrapped for £20
