Afternoon all

I've only just started to get involved in my 02 restoration and it's become apparent I'm making too much noise during the rust removal process with angle grinders etc, so I'm thinking of getting it blasted.

Of course I'll strip the car and give it to them but I want them to do the underside too, so should I make up a rotisserie or just a dolly frame on wheels? Will either method be ok during trailered transport?

Thanks

Hi guys. Thanks for the interest.

What sort of money does blasting command? This was supposed to be a budget build. Don't think it will be from now on!

PM'd you by the way Flatinfourth

Thanks for the replies lads

If I can afford blasting, I'd want the process to show me what needed cutting out. If the blast process leaves holes, then there wasn't enough metal in the first place. And it needs to get rid of the rust! I'll have to watch a video or two on YouTube about Aqua blasting.

£400 quid must equate to £500 for a BMW 02 surely!

I reckon I could get a couple of welders I know to make me a rotisserie. I think they'd love to give it a go.

Also, I've seen filler in places I know it shouldn't be, so I'm thinking blasting would be worthwhile in my case. The car does seem to have rust in some awkward places too!

Thanks for that mate.

In my line of work I could borrow the father in laws two tool compressor (100 psi) and the gas board have all the blasting equipment. The problem is somewhere to do it, and having the knowledge to do it.

I'll see if I can find somewhere to do it and take it from there

I forgot about this thread.

Flat in fourth, I did call you at the shop shortly after you gave me your number, but you must have been busy. Since then I've had all sorts of crap going on and the car has taken a back seat.

When I eventually get round to cracking on with the car, I'd still love to pick your brains on some bits and pieces.
