Fastest Point to Point Classic

What would be your choice with following criteria:
1. Classic car. Pre 1992, or 1995 for imports.
2. Excellent stability. Ability to react in an emergency "dodging" situation without loss of control.
3. Reasonable acceleration well balanced with traction.
4. Excellent cornering - this is where you can compete with moderns.
5. "Enough" braking. Fade isn't too big a deal for fast road driving.
6. Costs under £20k.
Modern tyres and polybushes are assumed.
We see this thread on GG a lot and I'm wondering what CLASSIC car would be chosen for the "extremely fast point to point" role.
I'm going for MkIV Supra TT:
