Widening classis car wheels?

Hi,has anyone had any experience of widening wheels on their classic car?If so were they pleased with the work they had done,who did it and was the price reasonable?Have been thinking about this for months and I really do want some wider rubber on the car,I know skinny wheels/tyres were original spec but I just love the wider rims.The car has Dunlop pressed steel rims with 3 eared spinners very much like MGA,I think they are 5" at present was going for 6".Should have bought a Yank years ago!
