Has anyone had any experience with amature films? I've just been offered a role in "Red Emotion" as the lead female. Never done anything quite like this before and don't really know much about it.
There's no money involved unless they manage to sell it at some festival.

Just been sent the sceen summary and it sounds really good.
Its all about the toils of love and tries to show the 3 sides to love...

Red Emotion said:
Crazy / Messed up Side

Love makes no sense. People truly in love will do anything for the person that they are in love with and this includes such events as severe as murder. The metaphorical image in the film for this is the setting as a whole. The small village of Bamber Bridge is a very eerie place that will be perceived by the audience as a crazy town

Funny Side

Again, Love at its most basic level is purely a need to continue the species however the fact that it drives us on such a rollercoaster of emotion is in itself funny. The fact that one of the many genres of the film is comedy will hopefully demonstrate the point.

Serious Side

Love is probably one of the biggest causes of suicides. A film demonstrating a person’s downfall because of it could not be filmed without showing a serious side to it all. Luke’s ending is going to leave the audience with a feeling of guilt.

Basically Luke goes mental after breaking up with Holly and goes on a murder spree. Ends up with the locals (of Bamber Bridge!) setting on him as Holly leaves with the detective! Thats a very brief overview!!!

I actually posted it up here because with there being so many "nice" cars around that are often used in such films I thought there may have been a few people with such experience.

Maybe posting it would dispell some odd ideas...

Background

The idea for the film started in early November. This was due to finding that one of us had a full editing suite that none of the rest of us knew existed. Things went quiet for a while but one day in town after I danced for Ashley, a dance so erotic that he agreed to come to the pub. It was from that day known as the come to the pub dance. I am getting side tracked as we often did over the past six months. Anyway after leaving Saz and Kerry to go drink at a house gathering we left my house and sat in the corner of the Withy Trees Pub (I’m just showing my awesome memory here). The original plan was to write a comedy sketch show called the Shatspank Redemption and the beginning sketches were wrote and the plan was to film this over Christmas. But as most of you will know, I became pretty ill and was bed ridden for three weeks. In which time, when I was conscious I wrote a short story about a character called Luke going insane and being driven to murder through the insanity of being in love. This was called ‘The Path of the Human Condition’ and was loosely based around a relationship of mine with a lovely young lady called Michelle. I put it to my co writers on the project that we should maybe make this into a film that will show the three sides of love I tried to cover in the story. Our aim is to show three main attributes of being in love:

Anyway it has taken us four months but here we now are with the completed detailed outline scenes for the new titled ‘red emotion’. The script will begin later this month. Casting will hopefully begin in July.

Steven Bradley 2004

RED EMOTION – Work by Daniel Baines, Ash Williamson, Ste Bradley

SCENE 1 - Gods Doing

The scene opens with Luke Ross and James Cowburn talking about Holly. Holly is the ex g/f of Luke. His parents have become increasingly worried about Luke’s mental health and have invited James round to try and cheer him up. In fact on the table that is in between Luke and James in a cake that has icing on it spelling out ‘cheer up Luke’. However James is not being the sort of help that Luke’s parents hoped he might be. In fact on camera the opening line of the film is James calling Luke a ‘Faggot Shit’ for feeling this way. James continues to tell Luke that he is only young and there are plenty of other women. However James being the complete unfeeling bastard that he is does not appreciate the fact that he is being no assistance in lecturing poor heartbroken Luke. James then moves onto verbally assaulting Holly. Luke still being very in love with Holly takes objection to this, however being the mild mannered and non violent person he is, he sits there and takes the abuse chewing his pack of quavers angrily. James then picks up a full packet from the floor and says ‘That’s another thing…I hate quavers’ and throws the pack and it bounces off Luke’s face. This throws Luke over the edge, Luke loves quavers. He attacks James and they fight for a while up until James begins to take the advantage and Luke picks up the cake knife that they were using to cut the cake (that is still full of fondant and jam). He rams the knife into the chest of James *Soundtrack in the background playing is ‘Born to make you happy’*. James falls to the floor silent as he dies quickly. Luke is shocked and horrified. He kneels down to the body of James and begins to cry in shock. But his cries are soon replaced by laughter and strange grunts of ‘piggyman kill’. We then see Luke looking happy and he picks up the knife and walks out of the room with a definite agenda on his mind.

[*Opening Titles* - The opening titles will introduce the detective called DI EIO. Detective Investigator EIO. Random shots of the more scary areas / people in Bamber Bridge will be shown to music whilst the detective explains that he has been called on a murder case…explains that a local guy named Luke Ross killed his best friend then killed six local youths and then disappeared. The end sequences finish at Luke’s house and we see DI EIO going into the garden were it all happened whilst saying ‘the strangest thing…I used to live in this town.]

We then again see the body of James. The coroner has removed his shirt and we can see that the knife wound is full of fondant, icing and jam. The camera then cuts back to DI EIO looking scared and runs and slaps an inspector that appears to be licking the wound and shouts ‘Inspector Kipling, get away!’ The inspector looks into the camera and states ‘that’s exceedingly good wound’ before scurrying away. DI EIO goes to look at the other victims. The coroner explains that after James was killed, Luke went to the local school and found six people and killed them all, dragged their bodies back and put them in a tea party scenario.

{FLASHBACK (Before each flashback, flash by queen will be played) – We see Luke committing the other murders.}

We are then taken into an interview room where Luke’s parents are being interviews by DI EIO. They are asked about Luke’s whereabouts. They say they don’t know and don’t appear to be that shocked by the situation. They begin talking about Luke and his relationship with Holly. DI EIO asks the parents to draw a picture of what their relationship was like. *half an hour later* Luke’s Mum turns her picture round and all it is, is a crudely sketched sad face. Luke’ Dad turns his around and there is a photo of the pope. The parents then start tapping their noses together for about ten seconds just to say shhh this is a secret. They say that they have a secret son who may know Luke’s whereabouts….Ally Ross…known only as Dance Commander *Electric 6 – Dance Commander starts to play*

Scene 2 – The Commanding Truth of Cockshot Wood

As the chorus of the song kicks in, we are shown a man dressed in old army gear. He is known locally as the ‘Dance Commander’. DI EIO watches the man dancing on top of the trolleys at Safeway. The music dies down and DI EIO asks Dance Commander if he can ask him a few questions. Dance Commander agrees but says that it will have to be whilst he is going round the store shopping. DI EIO asks his about Luke and Dance Commander says that he always knew that Luke was his twin brother but his parents thought that he was the evil one and sent him away. He has been dancing in Blackpool since he was seven years old and after becoming a stripper for hen parties, he earned enough money to buy a house back in Bamber Bridge. Though his parents weren’t happy, but said they will accept it as long as he doesn’t talk to Luke.

{FLASHBACK – We see the beginning of the relationship of Holly and Luke. They meet and get on really well and get together.}

The next act opens with DI EIO and Dance Commander walking into a local wood ‘Cockshot Wood’. They get to an old shack / shed. They go inside and Dance Commander says that DI EIO needs his special friends help. He pulls out a bowl of cockles. As DI EIO goes to eat one, they begin flying up into the air (on strings) and begin to dance randomly around DI EIO to happy circus type music. The cockles tell DI EIO to go outside for his answers will not be found in the shed.

DI EIO wanders out of the shed and for the first time meets the animated animals of Cockshot Wood. We have such animals as the curious fox, the townie meatballs and the shotgun wielding toad. Curious fox appears to be the leader and does most of the talking. He gives a big speech to DI EIO that all he has to do is believe in himself. The animals then start singing hero inside yourself by M People. DI EIO is startled and walks back slowly until he hears a big cracking and breaking sound. He looks down and he has broken the tiny river cabin and speedboat of the shotgun wielding toad. The toad looks very angry and chases DI EIO with his shotgun out of the wood. On the way out DI EIO falls over and bangs his head. When he wakes up he believes that what just happens was a dream. However he looks around and sees the toad still stood there. He quickly runs away.

{FLASHBACK – We see the breakdown of the relationship and its early effects on Luke. She begins not to reply to his messages, not saying I Love You back and it begins to make Luke very scared / paranoid}

Scene 3 - The Crazy World of the Petersons

DI EIO runs quickly from the forest into a random garden and is in that much of a rush runs directly into patio doors. He then falls back onto a woman who says ouch, looks into the camera and says ‘just because my name is patty o’ doors’. We then See George Peterson coming out of the house and asking DI EIO if he is ok and says ignore Patty, as she is a crazy old lady that lives in the garden. He takes DI EIO inside for a drink. Once inside DI EIO talks a little bit about the murders. The Petersons say that they do not know the Ross family but they did hear about the murder. They are generally being no help at all to DI EIO. Mrs Peterson then tells her husband to tell DI EIO about their television debut. Mr Peterson talks quite excitedly about the prospect of the couple going on Channel 4’s new show, ‘Baby Swap’. DI EIO looks confused and says ‘I didn’t realise that you had children’. Mr Peterson then says that they don’t…but they’ve been trying for years and the plan is to wrap up some stones and twigs in a blanket, then swap it for a real baby hope the producers don’t notice and then run off with that baby and live happily ever after. DI EIO looks very worried and says goodbye before quickly leaving.

After he walks out of the house he is rang on his mobile by Luke:

Luke tells him not to question anything and just to listen to what he has to say. Luke asked DI EIO if his name is not familiar in anyway. It doesn’t appear to ring any bells with DI EIO, so Luke tells him. They went to the same primary school in Bamber Bridge. The phone call is very strange in that Luke is kind to DI EIO, asking if he’s enjoying his first case. He then tells DI EIO to go find another old friend of theirs, Gerhard Burger. According to Luke, he is now an expert with phone tapping.

Scene 4 – Old Friends

DI EIO goes to see Gerhard. Gerhard is a techno wiz who has completely self taught himself how to do such things as phone tracing and has been in a wheelchair since he broke his thumb having a thumb war with Luke when they were fourteen. Gerhard is so annoying that when he was in hospital the doctors broke his spine to shut him up and dumped him in an abandoned house with a PC and the internet. Luke was the only person to know where Gerhard was and never came to help him so Gerhard is very much up for helping DI EIO. Gerhard spends his days sending e mails to the tampax company complaining about the texture and absorbency of their tampons and this has become quite serious in that he has started up many internet petitions to take Tampax to court for making inferior products.

Gerhard traces phone by taping a ping pong ball to someone’s phone and it works by recording incoming calls and tracing their location by ‘magic’. But for some reason, this actually does work. Gerhard tells DI EIO that their break up was big news on the local pub message board. DI EIO tells him to try trace the whereabouts of Holly.

He believes that everybody hates him and even after DI EIO says to him that he has been a great help, he thinks he is being sarcastic and tells him to get out.

{FLASHBACK – Holly and Luke almost working things out and agreeing to go for a pub trip}

Scene 5 – The Trouble with Eskimo Hatred / Bloody Audreys

DI EIO walks into the pub and finds that the landlord is already talking about the big break up in their and how he wasn’t surprised that Luke was driven to murder. DI EIO orders a ‘bloody Audrey’ and then begins asking a few questions about Luke. The landlord, named Bubba Spangles explains to DI EIO about the huge argument that took place in the pub *he explains this amongst showing flashbacks of the argument taking place*.

{Flashback – We then see Luke’s beginning of downfall after the break up. He drinks and gambles heavily whilst Bubba spangles talks about how he was in everyday}.

We cut back to the bar and he says that he wasn’t surprised that Luke was driven to murder and that she wasn’t good enough for him anyway. Holly always wore a fur hooded coat and Bubba Spangles thought that it made her an Eskimo; he explains his hatred of Eskimos, because they are frosty bastards.

After his rant about his hatred of the Eskimo, Bubba tells DI EIO that he might want to talk to Luke’s GP, MD Hammer. He explains that once Luke passed out in the pub one night and they had to get the doctor. After this MD Hammer took Luke under his wing and tried to treat him.

DI EIO thanks Bubba and begins to walk his way to the surgery.

However on his way there. He receives another call off Luke. Luke tells him that he is ready to be caught and to go see Gerhard to find out where he is.

Scene 6 – Unborn Pig

DI EIO gets to Gerhard’s house and finds police and MD Hammer already there. Gerhard is wheeled out on a trolley dead. DI EIO sees a note on the floor saying this is what will happen to all those that help you. He asks MD Hammer what happened. MD Hammer tells him what happened and goes into Luke’s medical history and how that he was suffering from a split personality disorder. Luke has two sides. There is Luke, who is a very mild mannered and sane individual and the side committing the murders, known only as Piggyman.

*See flashbacks of Luke switching between Luke and Piggyman*.

DI EIO actually believes that he has met the first sane person in Bamber Bridge that is until the song MC Hammer – Hammer Time begins to play. MD Hammer begins to dance crazily until pulling out a hammer and running off.

DI EIO looks around the house for clues, but doesn’t find anything and decides to leave. As he walks out of the door he answers his phone with hello as the camera focuses on the shutting door.

{FLASHBACK – Begins on the door as it opens we see the murder of Gerhard take place and we see how Gerhard revealed the whereabouts of Holly to Luke}.

Scene 7 – Betrayal

The scene opens with shots of Holly handing out leaflets. This is the first time we see Holly in real time. She is in a witness protection program after Luke’s recent killing spree. Now she’s working as a street advertiser, dressed as something crazy like a bear, rabbit or a clown. Something that hides her face yet she is still wearing the ‘Eskimo coat’. The camera zooms in on a blurry figure away in the distance that appears to be Luke, however as the camera focuses it is actually an old lady. However the camera quickly pans back to see that Luke is stood behind Holly.

She turns around to see Luke and immediately begins to slowly back away. He says Hello Holly. She says that her name isn’t Holly and runs. Luke smiles and begins to chase after her.

The chase scene itself is very Benny Hill like. It will be very frantic and have them going on dodgem cars and other random events up until the two of them chasing each other very slowly on bikes to the song Bicycle Race by Queen.

The two stop, look at each other…say ‘this is stupid’ and the scene rewinds back to where Holly began to run off.

They run into a baron piece of land where DI EIO is stood. Holly runs directly into the arms of DI EIO. DI EIO says that since Primary School he has been in Love with Holly and hated Luke when he heard that she was with him. He explains that when he heard that the police were after a Luke Ross from Bamber Bridge, he knew he had to come back and take this as his first case. Luke falls to his knees and says how did you find her?

{FLASHBACK – Shows Gerhard ringing the details through to DI EIO before Luke got there and then the earlier phone call where all that the audience saw was DI EIO saying ‘hello’. That phone call was actually to Holly and discussing meeting up again.}

DI EIO goes over to Luke who is on the ground clearly upset and kicks him in the face and abuses him verbally. Luke begins to grunt, as he is becoming Piggyman. DI EIO says that Luke has a choice. If he runs now he will leave the case as unsolved and Luke can make a new life somewhere else. Luke says that his Love for Holly is too strong and he’d rather die. DI EIO says that he was afraid of that. Luke turns around to see a gang of local people with weapons in hand. They set upon him and dump his lifeless body in the river and DI EIO and Holly walk off together, hand in hand.
