Cost of Building materials for double garage

Can anyone tell me if the general cost of building materials has risen considerably since February?
I suspect my potential garage builder is spinning me a yarn as he says he now can't do the project for the price agreed in May as he would be "paying me". Blames it on the huge rise in material costs since february.
Personally i think he underquoted me at the outset.
Anyone any idea the general cost to build a single block, rendered double garage with double 'leccy doors?
Advice or info much appreciated....
