Where are the French PH Massive?
Discussion
Hi All,
The good Mrs and I are looking at moving to France in the next 12 months and I just wondered where and how far and wide the French PH Legion are (just being nosey, basically!).
All going well a property recce holiday will be on the cards in September (three weeks - ish) so if any of you can give any estate agents the thumbs up, that would also be superb.
Cheers,
C.

Whereabouts are you looking?
We've been in lower Normandy (just above Mayenne) for about two and a half years full-time, but bought in 2007. Love it, but I sometimes miss English pubs. You can either be a part of the expat community or become French, or a bit of both like us... your choice!
Good luck with your move. As a first port of call use www.french-property.com ...

Funnily enough one of the areas we feel would suit well is where you are (Mayenne area/Normandy/Brittany), however we are also looking further south and not too far from the coast. That said, I realy don't mind where in (rural) France we end up. Essentially we will be semi-retired and just kicking back and enjoying life as the plan is to sell here, spend far less in France and live off the income of UK owned rental properties.
Thanks for the link, too.
Cheers,
C.
Thanks, John.
I know what you mean wrt the weather, etc.
TBH, we're in West Wales and don't mind the rain, but the friggin horse flies and midges here drive me nuts!
Ideally, warmer summers (actual sunshine would be nice) and snow for part of the winter would be great, as we enjoy the spectacle of each season.
Cheers,
C.

Sounds lovely
Should be heading over for a nosey in Sept...
Well, I've just returned from ten days on the Cote d'Azur...
Wow.
I'm not too sure if I need bother look anywhere else in France, lol.
I just need some additional zeros in my bank balance if I want to live within 25 minutes of the coast, so I will be looking a bit further inland where I can also enjoy snow in the winter months.
Getting back to Wales and sub 15Degree temps was a very rude shock this afternoon!

A bit late, perhaps, but Happy New Year to all of the PH Massive in France, and thanks for the contributions to the thread.
This year should see me relocated to somewhere in France...somewhere in the countryside, with a lovely old home, gites and a pool. And not too many acres that need looking after (unless it's woodland).
I can't wait, I really can't!
Wishing you all a great 2013 in the land of fine wine and fine food.
Cheers,

Well, it's taken longer than anticipated, but fingers crossed, it looks like the move is on the cards well and truly now. It's only taken a divorce and three years to get here! Thankfully my new partner has always wanted to move to France and she's got a grasp of the lingo already, as will I, in time.
A proper recce into Brittany (Morbihan area) and the Poitou-Charentes areas is in the diary. In fact it looks like we're going to rent for a few months, or perhaps a year to get a proper flavour.
So, who of you are still in France? Is the lifestyle still what you were looking for and do you have any more tips/pointers?
Many thanks!

Still based nr Malestroit, still very happy especially now the new garage is finished, 6 cars in there at a squeeze.
Morbihan is a big department, the Northern end is cheaper property-wise, but the southern bit is warmer from my experience.
Give us a shout if you need any help / advice for this area.

Hi all.
Just wondered if you were all still there and loving France?
We're finally heading over for a nosey and sneakily adding in the classic at Le Mans. Sweeeet! We have a few places to look at, mainly in Morbihan and near the coast down towards the Charente.
Take it easy and enjoy he vino :-)

Ok, French massive, are you still there?
It's finally happening, we are France bound this September.
We've just returned from ten weeks in the Lot-et-Garonne and are really looking forward to calling the area home.
Are you all still enjoying life there and what are your thoughts on Brexit ( if you live in France all year)?
We are going to be near Castlemoron-sur-Lot, so if anyone is close (ish), it'd be great to say hello! :-)
