Dog Friendly Hotels around Lyon

The good lady and I are driving down from Eurotunnel in Calais to Nice with our dog, a golden retriever.

We need to arrive in Nice during office hours, to be able to meet up with the estate agent who has the key for our apartment.

Rather than leaving London, taking the tunnel, and trying to get there late the same day, we figured we'd look at stopping somewhere around Lyon for a night and having a leisurely run down to Nice the following day.

How easy will it be to find accommodation for us and our dog? Are there any chain hotels close to the main roads? We don't want to go too far off the planned route if we can help it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks Steve, very useful information, just what I was looking for!

I think we may end up going with an Ibis - although the quality may or may not be the best, close to the main road with dining options close by is exactly what we're looking for.
