So I've been here, carless, since 21st October. Contract has been extended for another 3 months so bringing the Scooby over (adequately shod with snow rubber) in the New Year.

Anything else I need to take care of in the regs department (chains, lights anything)? Any recommendations as to things to do that aren't available via Google??

Thanks in advance

Ah! Documents, the thing I always forget to put on my "list". Done, thanks!

Thanks again - I know the Breathalyser thing in France has been suspended indefinitely due to some dodgy dealings by the owner of the preferred French Breathalyser co!

I know about the roads, that's why I want my car here - The Alpine ones in the snow might be a little challenging though!!

Just to say thanks for all the tips.

Left UK on Monday 30th December and drove to Paris (c300 miles) for New Year with rellies. Left Paris on 2nd Jan and drove c500 miles to Friedrichshafen where we overnighted and then a nice amble through the countryside (c110 miles) to my digs near Holzkirchen.

Have to say Friedrichshafen is beautiful and has the added benefit of being the home of the Graf Zeppelin (excellent museum) and Dornier (another excellent museum). The town itself is rather modern (took a lot of hits in WWII) but its location on the banks of the Bodensee and the view across to the Black Forest mountains and Alps is sensational at sunrise
