SAAB's easy to work on?

Currently looking at news cars and for a £1500 budget early convertibles, 9-3 and 9-5's are on my radar. Are these easy to work on for a DIY mechanic and are parts expensive?

I do all my own servicing and will attempt to repair anything within reason but at £1500 I dont want to have to constantly send to a specialist to get certain jobs done.
