as above, im wondering if buying any condition of 5A would result in restoring the chasis at this age of the cars?
so i can work out a budget for buying and work needed

Thinking of buying a 5A as a daily driver as i can use the large boot for work stuff & have a garage, I had a TVR S2 previously but sold due to 2 seats with young family and no room for work stuff, having the TVR im used to fibreglass & the issue of keeping the chassis tip top as the main priority, I bought a 1966 Volvo Amazon after but thats not really practical for daily driving with all the chrome and a bit slow, fancy the Scimitar 5 but i want to know realistically what the spend will be to make it a practical reliable and solid long term? appreciate any feedback from anyone who has done a body lift off and restoring work?

thanks all :-)

'oldandslow' thanks for reply, I would prefer paying extra for a car with an already sound chassis if thats available, cars are at the 40 year mark so im guessing a lot of them will be needing work, or as you said get a car thats been restored, any sellers out there!?

the boot doesnt need to be massive, enough for a washing machine, tools etc, work as a landlord so sometimes move furniture around

Thanks all, Poshtwit I joined Scim web and saw your Orange car, looks fantastic!

Im a landlord so moving the odd bit of furniture is handy but I suppose i could use my wifes mpv, so the boot storage is not too important

'''On a serious note, there are a few 5/5a cars about with chassis that have been Galvanized by previous owners.

Depending on budget, these are the ones to get. If you go to see one, make sure tou have a good prod of the outriggers, there is a rust trap at the rear of the front wheel arch!'''

Thanks Poshtwit, Yes had a TVR S2 previous, same story outriggers go first, looks very similair chassis, felt sorry for ebay buyers of the S series who went on body looks then discovered the rotten chassis!! I checked my one thorughly before purchase luckily & got a good one I maintained

regarding buying a galvanised or restored chassis car on a 5/5a what price bracket do you think I would be looking at to get a tidy car with a good chassis and reasonable paintwork?
