Usually I'm posting advice to people looking for insurance but on this occation, I'm stumped.

I've found a lovely Lotus Elise and unfortunately I've set my heart on it. I can't find an insurance quote for less than £4400 despite searching a few months back and finding one for £1900 yikes

Does anybody have any ideas where else I can look? I've been through all the comparison sites and I've given the Flux a call, all to no avail.

I'm hoping somebody has some knowledge on these cars and insurance as they are a bit different, would it be possible for me insure an early S1 under a classic car policy?

It is possible to insure S1s as a modern classic - ask Matt at Henderson Taylor.
Likewise with http://www.classiclineinsurance.co.uk/.
Spoke to Henderson Taylor, unfortunately their underwriters have said a flat no to anybody under 25 on the car. Although the chap I was speaking to was very helpful! I'd be using the car as an everyday car and to commute, which makes insurance even more difficult.

Trying the classiclineinsurance right now. I'm moving house in ~3weeks so I'm using the new address to get prices, it turns out its a lot cheaper than my current address! Down to £3000 with Admiral now, this is looking more faesable.

Waiting on a call from classicline at the moment. Losing my momentum with this as I've hit a few brick walls frown

I'm making a note of all the recommended companies and I'll go through them 1 by 1

Thanks guys.
