Boot release cable......(again)

Sure you have all posted on this subject before, but please, humour me. If you haven't already guessed the cable on my S1 is U/S. Can this be fixed in my garage or is it an 'experts' job. What's involved? Thanks in advance.

Cheers! Consider myself well and truly humoured! Only anticipate one problem: The retaining nuts on the handle have already dropped into the abyss.
