Moving to Ireland - VRT

I understand that if I am moving back to Ireland, having been living in the UK, it is possible to register my car in Ireland without paying the dreaded VRT.

How does one go about doing this? Is the process simple or complicated? Any help greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid I may still get caught with annual motor tax for an older vehicle. So, to help justify this, how many Chimaeras are in Ireland?
