3.7 Speed Six Engine Designed and Engineered by RND
Discussion
I drove my T 350 back from Devon today as the rebuild and re map is now complete. Despite the horrible wet weather and poor visibility which my car would never normally be seen in, I managed to keep a broad smile on my face. The engine is incredibly responsive and refined a totally different beast in comparison to the MBE. I will post some more details and spec tomorrow.

Here is the spec and some of the other upgrades that have been completed.
Fully ported and gas flowed stage 3 Head, GT valve springs, GTS Kent cams profiled from blanks, GT cam followers with 360 degree oiling. Extra oil feed to the rear of head on exhaust side.
Block re-bored to 3.7 litre and refaced, Ross racing pistons, New upgraded timing chains,
Crank lightened knife edged and race balanced, 360 degree oiling on the mains. H beam rods lightened and race balanced. New heavy duty race spec main bearings, four bolt main cap conversion.
Omex 710 plus new loom fitted and live mapped.
Bespoke stainless steel exhaust system with re shaped anti reverse spike collector. Upgraded new stainless steel headers which have been stove enameled.
2 upgraded fuel pumps in the tank and an adjustable fuel regulator fitted to fuel rail.
Unfortunately we suffered a speed sensor defect on the rolling road when we were doing the final power run which prevented us recording any data above 5000 RPM. The figures obtained are very exciting: 308 BHP and 325 lbFt at 5000 RPM I look forward to completing a full power run.

Could I ask what prompted you to go for Omex over Syvecs? Was there some perceived technical benefit or was it cost-based (I have no idea how much Omex costs compared to Syvecs).
Hi Jon I was assured that Omex was a really good system which is very easy to Map and has been well proven in some TVR Challenge race cars.Don

Thanks but that is what I'd expect from a normal 'proper' balance [which is what mine is having done], the whole reciprocating assembley; pulleys, trigger wheel, damper, crank, flywheel, clutch pressure plate, rods and pistons. Still hasn't explained what is 'race' balancing? Or is it just a word put in front to make it sound 'racier' when talked of? Not picking a fight, just want to understand
[love the car, I had one once and wish I still did. Is it reflex green/purple, mine was]

Thanks for your comments, the colour is Reflex Charcoal which as you described flips colour from green to purple to dark charcoal.

Perhaps my information is out of date, but I thought Syvecs was the only ECU for the Speed6 with knock sensors? I certainly remember Racing Green telling me that Ryan was the first to crack the problem and that up until that point everyone said it couldn't be done. Perhaps Omex have since introduced it?
Hi JonRBI have a knock sensor installed on my Speed 6 which is working with the Omex ECU. I understand that previous versions of the Omex that were fitted did not have the full Omex loom mod which allows the mapper to utilize all of the ECU's features. Perry Wadham has the OMEX 710 ECU in his Tuscan Challenge Race Car, mapped by the same engineer.

Superb, some good news. Very glad to hear it, and the numbers look promising as well.
Can I ask what a 'anti reverse spike collector' is please? It sounds like something Mad Max's car should have....
Hi Don I hope you are well and not working too hard. I will leave Dave to explain the reverse Spike on the exhaust as I am not an expert. Have you got your Tam all sorted now?Can I ask what a 'anti reverse spike collector' is please? It sounds like something Mad Max's car should have....

I've mapped a few Challenge cars for 7 years now and yet to see one fitted with an omex. Who gave you that info? MBE, Emerald and Motec are the main players in the race cars..
Hi Joolz any sign of your uprated Air Box please?REF the Omex 710 please note the article on page 36 of this months TVR Sprint magazine with regard to Perry Waddam's Tuscan Challenge race car.

To be honest..... No. I've kind of lost faith in it, and it's sitting it the garage unwashed and slightly sorry for itself. I've got a house move coming up, and after that I'll ship it over to someone who can make me believe in it again. Then I hope to use it for what it was designed for - on the track!
Sorry to hear about your Tam Don, I hope somebody can breath some life back in to her for your enjoyment on the track. Are you moving very far?

I have indeed being running an Omex 710 on my race car for two years now, I have also had the exhaust spike fitted to several of my race cars for 4 years.
Thanks for confirming that Perry, I fully support your comments in Sprint with regards to Steve at Power Crazy, he is a very knowledgeable and helpful guy. 10 out of 10.Don

Yep I have known Steve for a good few years now. He prepares all my cars road and race and of course we are getting really good results with the Chevrolet and Rover Tuscans which is mostly down to Steve making them go faster rather than my driving. I'm slowly converting him as to, on the whole the good TVR people to which your patience has been refreshing. Your car is a very tasty example and I do admit to me and Steve having a soft spot for it.Look forward to hearing what the performance is like when it is bedded in .If you are ever at a race meeting I'm at please come to the pit for a cuppa.
Thanks Perry I look forward to a chat and a cuppa sometime.Don
