Hi all
Just wondering if anyone had made a stainless steel or similar plate to cover the top of the exhaust manifold in the engine bay to divert the heat? I thought this could be a neat solution to the heat on the bonnet issues. I'm thinking a long plate with a neat edge running along side the cam cover.
Pics would be great if anyone has done this successfully.
Thanks in advance,

Andy.

I don't really want to take the manifolds off to ceramic coat them and I've heard bad things about wrapping them because the heat is contained inside the wrap.
I just thought a stainless plate would still let the heat out (and soak some up) and would potentially look cleaner and more tidy than seeing the old manifold itself. I'm not sure if the usual bit of mat glued to the underside of the bonnet would work as well or look as appealing.

I'm read somewhere about the heat build up causing the manifolds to crack around the welds? Maybe this was only relevant to rover v8s.
I'll have a look at that insulation material. If it's tried and tested this could be the answer although I thought a plate might improve the aesthetics as well.
