Yet another huge thumbs up for Dom at Powers Performance

Yes, I know, I know, its getting a bit boring now with all the "how great Dom and his team are at Powers etc" But I feel I must give another shout out as two months ago, I had a very poorly Tuscan Thread The car is the publicity piece for the Rally for Heroes and I was looking at the stark reality that it wouldn't be making the event!
With approximately one weeks notice, Dom took her in and two weeks later, I drove it out with a spangly 4.3 under the bonnet. One week later I had managed to get the obligatory 1k miles on and Dom had her back in for a check up, then we were off on a 3000 mile jaunt across Europe over mountain passes and excessive amounts of de-restricted Autobahns, if anything was going to test the new engine, it was going to be this rally.

The following day we arrived in the holy land of VMAX capabilities, unfortunately we left a tad late and by the time we got onto the autobahns there was a fair amount of traffic, we did however achieve one semi decent run
That was at about 6100rpm and still travel left in the pedal! Car was solid as a rock and for anyone in doubt of the front splitter and rear spoiler, don't be, as it kept the car firmly planted and I have little doubt we would have broken the 180 mark had we had enough tarmac. This engine is a peach!
So speed runs done with, we headed off to the passes, Grossglockner in Austria first
Then the Stelvio, then Switzerland for a menagerie of passes including the Susten, Grimsel & Furka
Whilst ascending the Susten, we were met by a local in his Ferrari Testarossa who very kindly offered to lead us up. I am happy to say the Tuscan performed superbly, so much so that Mr Ferrari stopped at the top of the pass and proceeded to tell me how he was blown away by the performance of the plucky little Brit mobile admitting that he just could not power away at any stage. Now yes, I admit, his car was a classic and you could say he was a naff driver etc. But I'm happy in the thought that he was a local, he had done the pass countless times, yet it was my first and he went off up the pass like a bat out of hell and the new engines sheer grunt more than made up for my lack of road knowledge.
The torque that engine now makes is nothing short of phenomenal, god knows what the 4.5 is like!
Anyway, the car made it back 3000 miles later, its still purring away and used hardly any oil, which from the drive it had just gone through, was superb!
All in all, it was a fantastic job by Dom and his team, the new engine has now done in excess of 5000 miles so I'll no doubt be up soon for its 6k service.
If anyone is still sitting on the fence, jump off now and do it!

An update on the engine.
I took part in the ASDA Charity day at Bruntingthorpe where things didn't exactly go to plan.
On my 7th lap, my attention was drawn to plumes of white smoke (Which transpired to be steam) coming from the exhausts. We immeadiately pulled off the track and stopped the engine, got my passenger out and then went back to the car to diagnose. Unfortunately, the car was well and truly dead. AA called and low loaded onto the back of a flatbed to be delivered to Doms place the next Monday.
Monday afternoon I'm informed that the car has been dropped off and their working on it, looks like theres water in one of the cylinders.
Tuesday, I'm told the engine is being lifted out to diagnose the problem.
Wednesday afternoon and I'm informed the fault was diagnosed as a porus head with a small crack in one of the ports, heads been replaced and everything put back together the engine is back in and they're carrying out the 6k service I'd booked it in for prior to the engine dying!
So from the car being dropped off there on Monday afternoon it took less than 3 days to diagnose, rectify and have the car ready for me to collect it Friday evening.
All done under the Powers warranty bar the service of course, now back home with a superb 4.3 in the garage again.
I'd say thats quite impressive service in anyones books!
