Sat Nav ear piece?

Which Sat Nav with headphone/ear piece socket should I go for? My current system is a basic TOMTOM about six years old. Are the new TomTom GO so much improved.

I have but I find it distracts me too much from what's going on on the road. Seems that Sat Nav do not come with ear piece sockets, Halfords told me that the manufacturers think the systems are 'loud enough'. Fair comment, they are. But it's the noise which is the problem to passengers not wishing to hear it I replied.
I can't be the only person in the World wanting to use Sat Nav with audio off and an ear piece working, can I?
