Evening

I was just thinking. My current sat nav is knocking on a bit (5+ years) and its been fine for UK. Its a Mio Navman M400. It has European roads also on it. The whole thing hasn't been updated since I bought the thing though, those days they used to rip you off for updates (maybe they still do?) but to be honest I fancy a new one.

So do people have any recommendations for a upgraded sat nav for Mainland Europe/UK? .

Are Tom Toms any good with their lifetime updates?. The thing I like about the navman is the way it lists the route with the relevant turnings and its straight forward to follow. Not a big fan of tracking the journey using the 3d map feature that tomtom seem to use.

Anyway, gracias a todos!

I have very recently, yesterday in fact purchased the Garmin Nuvi 57LM from Argos http://www.argos.co.uk/beta/static/Product/partNumber/4159957.htm for £79.99 for my European trip this summer.

It allows you to plan your route in a number of programs (TYRE, MotoGoLoco, Etc) allowing you to follow a pre-planned route of your choice rather than the route they suggest. The Garmin also provides you with lifetime updates with this model. Having done hours of research I found the TomTom's do not allow this feature which was a major factor as to why I purchased the Garmin.

I've not yet used the unit but having updated it earlier today it does feel like a good bit of kit.
That does look a like a tidy piece of equipment. Seems to be getting rave reviews also. I'll have to ask after you do your road trip on how it coped with the distances you're going to be covering.
