Hi, can anyone point me in the direction of a double din satNav headunit, with a large touch screen (6" plus, ideally) that allows you to search for your destination using the full post code? Budget is up to £600.

Most seem to allow only partial post code search (search for town) and then you have to enter the street. I'd prefer just to enter the post code once and then drive to it.

I really like the look of the Pioneer AVIC-F970BT (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-New-Pioneer-AVIC-F970BT-/151719412601?hash=item23532e8379:g:sicAAOSwNSxVCUvm), but it seems it doesn't have full post code search? confused

I have two of the earlier 940BT's and they have full postcode search so I would be really surprised if the 970 didn't.

The manual here is pretty unhelpful -

Just ring up a dealer, they'll know.

Really happy with the earlier 940, the 970 looks streets ahead (excuse the pun).
Excellent thanks for letting me know. I did check the manual, but it looked like it had only partial postcode search.

Thanks for the other suggestions too. I can't help but think that Android Apps are great in theory, but lack the plug and play nature of dedicated SatNav head units.

Can you get a display mode on the AVIC models that just shows a captured image whilst the stereo runs in the background - I find the main menu display a bit cluttered and would just like the car make logo (form a captured image) displayed, possibly along with time, date and radio station/track name and position.

This is the look I'm trying to achieve:

I have a Pioneer AVIC 970 DAB
I don’t recall anything other than full postcode search being available. It certainly works on mine.
Now the AVICSYNC functionality works, nearly 12 months late, it is a fantastic piece of kit. I wanted a decent replacement stereo in my E46, but it had to have DAB, sat nav, Bluetooth, remote SSD or HD capability, also be fully compatible with my Android phone. It does have reversing camera functionality, which I now wish I had installed. Possibly an upgrade for another day.
It also allows for 2 camera feeds to be used. You can put DVDs in and watch those. It also has a CD/DVD slot on the front too. Lots of options for colour schemes, background pictures/skins, logos, lighting set ups. Fully compatible with the steering wheel controls.
It now has all the speed cameras on it, petrol, stations etc.…
I Updated the firmware for the AVICSYNC, which was simple enough, although a little “heart in mouth” at the time.
I had mine fitted by Unique Integrations in High Wycombe, who were very good, and put a new aerial and new speakers in at the same time.

Yes – I’ll post a photo of mine up, which will hopefully clarify.
Anything else you need to know about it?
That's great - thanks for all the info! smile

Would you be willing to share how much Unique Integrations charged you for the install? I could quite easily put the head unit in, it's the fitting of the GPS and DAB aerial that is slightly more tricky on the 996 I'm looking to put it in, so would opt for a pro job if it's reasonable money.
