Bought a Pioneer FH-X840DAB stereo the other day. Lovely bit of gear, really like it, does everything I want it to. Unfortunately when installing, it sticks out of the dash by about 3/4 of an inch! Not happy with that, wanted everything looking tidy. Plus the facia adapter I've got isn't the correct shade of grey, so I'm not definitely not happy about that.

First question... is there anyway to make it flush with the dash? Ive tried looking for a deeper set cage, but to no avail. I've reinstalled my old radio now, so no pictures unfortunately.

Second question. In my quest to find something a little bit more factory looking, I found an offering from a company called Xtron. Loads of features, looks pretty good, almost as if it's a factory unit. Has anyone had any experience of these, what are they like on a day to day basis, or is it just cheap Chinese stuff I'd be better off staying clear of?

If that is the case, has anyone got any suggestions as to what I could put in its place that is going to look tidy but won't break the bank, and also if there is any other manufacturers of facias other than Autoleads, because all of the stuff I've had from them has either not fitted or has been the wrong colour!

All seemed to be, just looked really untidy! Never had a problem when I've fitted stereos before. Maybe I should have someone professionally install it, they might at least be able to get a decent facia and get it to fit biggrin the other option I did think to go with was to buy one with a screen, at least it might look slightly more integrated. Or just buy another Ford/Sony offering which is fairly decent, but lacks DAB.

Absolutely sure, I've removed the glove box and poked my hand up behind it, moving wires back and away from it. It does also click into the cage properly, so I'm definitely certain it's not wires biggrin
