After deciding the TomTom iPhone was a waste of money (no cradle, no phone and navigation, etc....), I've decided to go for a stand-alone unit.

The only thing is my last satnav was the TomTom Navigator 4 for the iPaq so I'm a bit behind on things.

I've come across these two as they seem pretty good and lie within my €250 budget. Can anyone recommend a specific one?

Essential features must be maps for Bulgaria and adjoining Eastern countries, and bluetooth connectivity with my iPhone for hands-free phone conversations.

Suggestions or alternatives?

Hi Matthew.

Cheers for the extensive info there. It's still a hard choice but I think I would take the TomTom 730 unit if the maps for Bulgaria are included. I just need them for Sofia and the main highways along with the main roads to get there through Hungary, Serbia and so-forth.

I also found an interesting article in AV Forums regarding the iPhone compatibility. It seems to work well and even accepts the phone book and SMS text to speech which is nice.

If however, the Bulgaria maps aren't available, I would have to resort to the Navigon unit. I've tried the Garmin ones but the UI is clunky and I find the unit a bit "sporadic" at times. My sister uses a lower end Müvi unit and I wasn't all that impressed.

The only condition is the Navigon must accept the iPhone connectivity which as I mentioned before works with the TomTom but I can't find any info on it.
