Afternoon all,
What are people's thoughts on the Motec M84 ECU for a Rover V8 powered TVR? I have been looking at DTA, Syvecs and Omex but this new M84 looks very tempting at just over £1k. It is essentially a cut down version of the M800 ECU but comes with Lamda enabled out of the box. Seems a very decent ECU, now at a competitive price point.

Also comes with data logging enabed so works with Motec's i2 software which is supposed to be very good.

looks good, 8 injector drivers so you can go sequential, but only 6 ignition so you'll have to go wasted spark not coil per plug.
but as always I'd suggest you need to find someone to map it first and then see what they like to work with.
Sound advise on finding a mapper before hand. What is the advantage of coil per plug over wasted spark?but as always I'd suggest you need to find someone to map it first and then see what they like to work with.
Hi Nigel, I forgot you had a Motec on yours, I am not sure I can stretch to the full M800 but my needs are a little more modest. The Motec kit does look very nice indeed and that new M84 does look very good value for money. My 14CUX works very well on my car at the moment but I am looking at throttle bodies so need move away. I would rather spend a little more to get a solution which works well. Who did you get to make and install the loom on yours?
What was the reasoning behind keeping the stepper? Most people I speak to who have an aftermarket ECU have generally opted for the Bosch idle control valve instead.
