volvo v70 D5 2002 cruise control

My cruise control is not working ( I do not use it anyway), I am getting an engine service warning message but no warning triangle. This happened last year and I had a clutch sensor replaced which cured the problem, last year I had a yellow warning triangle and the car did sometimes lose power, this time it is running perfectly. Can anyone tell me if the cruise control not working will make any difference to the running of the car. As I do not use it , so long as the car is running well, do I need it fixed.

Thanks for the info, did as you said and the light went out as you said it would, going to volvo thursday, good to know the cause before I get there.

Visited Volvo today and after diagnostics they said it was clutch fluid dripping on the clutch pedal sensor which had destroyed the sensor. Needs both bits replacing, 600€ here in France. Going to ask local garage if they can do it!

Thanks everyone for your input, will keep an eye on the fluid level and if I do get it done I will take it to local garage not volvo dealership, 50 miles away and too expensive, if you say I can do it myself it can't be too hi tech.
