Petrol or Diesel V70

I thinking of buying a V70 as a I require a car to take a bit of abuse of the next year or so whilst renovating/log collecting etc, looking around 2005/6. Looking to go manual. Probably going to do around 12k pa.

On my various searches, I see the main options to be 2.0T/2.5T or D5

Any opinions?

Thanks, will steer clear of cars prior to 2005, I notice the have issues with clocks etc?
