Good morning Volvoists,

I am going to view a 2010 Volvo V50 this week, and have read up on the different flavours of DPF used on the V50, and the potential issues which come with them. The salesman wasn't able to advise me on whether the car had the DPF requiring the periodic EOLYS top up and ECU reset, or the later "lifetime" unit.

Would anyone be able to advise me from the year alone which would be fitted please? The car is a 2.0 Diesel first registered March 2010

Thank you

Kevin

That's very helpful, thank you. I had seen the thing about the VIN indicating which it might be. I'll make sure I go armed with the right questions as I don't fancy a lengthy trip to the main dealers to get the magic liquid topped up every couple of years.

Thanks for the replies above.

I believe the car I am looking at has the Ford engine, and is currently on 70K, but has been recently serviced. If it hasn't had the dpf replaced then I'll be seeking a sizeable reduction in price to cover the impending large bill, or walking away. I'm also booked to look at a slightly older petrol model later in the day so I have my bases covered.

Just to report back after the helpful info provided above, I spotted a nice looking one owner 2011 D3 2.0 today, popped along to look at it this evening and did a deal on the spot. It's a rather boring grey colour and needs a good polish and a bit of tlc, but mechanically it's spot on with everything done. Picking it up Saturday smile
