The turbo sounds awesome. What's it like to drive with such sharp power delivery? That power curve is ridiculously steep!

any reason you speced your own rather than running with off the shelf items??

Chris.

Hi Chris

I wanted to be a bit different from the norm and find out for myself what these engines can do i thought it would be a good idea to use the best quality parts as possible smile and show customers what you can do and make it neat and well designed at the same time but you have to be a bit wobble as well hehe

Russ how much more is left in the engine?? could you run say 700-800-900bhp out of one on race fuel???

Just wondering if the Ford guys are ever going to start to move over to these units instead of the Cossies.

How much do the 5 pot White blocks weigh??

Cheers

Chris.
Hi Chris

I have a contact in sweeden that has run there 850 engine up to 842 bhp on race fuel smile for the spec of my engine i think 600-650 on race maybe more smile I am learning alot about the engine and how it makes its power, its my first attempt at this so will see how far i can go smile

As far as i know mine is already the highest proven bhp/torque in the uk smile

I have already had a few inquire's from st owners about the engine smileI am sure the market will grow judging by how many st's you see on the road smile

I will check out the weight at some point

Russ

cheers Russ.

is there any reason the engine wont beable to take bigger power?? is it open or closed decked? im just thiking of how much the scooby guys are making on thier 2.5ltr engines. smile

Chris.
Hi Chris

I am sure i could build a 800-1000 bhp volvo engine with out a problem with the right budget smile its an open deck engine but there are mods to do to strenghten the block smile

The Scooby engine has a major problem the crank looks more like an accordianwink

HI everyone just bought a 850 t5-r! looking for a dump valve for it anyone know which will be best?
Hi Lee

I would think hard about fitting a dump valve frown fit one only if you like the noise and can live with a slower throttle response smile

Russ, just a quick question, is there any reason it took soo long to spool the GT35 on the T5 engine?? also the graph looks increadably peaky. is that just the scale of the graph or what??

dont want to take anything away form the car. just compearing it to other things out there. smile

Chris
Hi Chris

No problem to answer any questions smile the graph does not look correct because at the time i just wanted to see what was happening at my current spec smile
Its a long way from finished it was just a test frown i have had many comments made on the various volvo forums i have put it on a few from the internet experts rolleyesrolleyesthe problems i have found that when you start to do something different from the norm the haters come out frown if i had kept it all off the web people would of said its blown up etc etc

Russ i ment no offence, i think its an amazing piece of work. smile

yes you get those people everywhere im affraid. they know it all and dont like people messing around or trying new ideas. i think you just need to forget about them and do what you want! and clearly 535bhp is much better than what they have. lol

what are your plans for the engine now then?? any more upgrades/mods??

Cheers

Chris.
Hi Chris

No offence taken it was not aimed at you smile They will not stop me smile I am constantly updating many items and ideas thats why its taken much much longer than was planned frown I will soon have my new cams then once a few more mods come together i will be driving and enjoying it for a while smile

I'm certainly after a carbon spark plug cover and maybe a few other bits . I've just re-mapped mine - using a T5 auto ECU and replacing the chip in it putting the t5-R map on the new one - The torque characteristics are way better on the R map!
Hi Morgrp

Have a look on www.Volvospeed.com a large american site you may find some carbon bits there etc
