Let's face it Thailand is just too far to travel for this years Race of Champions and after the fun we had last year with a track very loosely based on the ROC concept, I thought this year I ought to do it properly. Thanks to all those that helped.

That's great, how much space does it take up??
It is mounted on a 9'x5' Table Tennis table (which is on wheels) so it also folds through 90 degrees for storage against the wall when not in use.

Very glad it's now finished, videos?
There are a couple of videos from testing but the circuit and bridge were unfinished. I will try and do one with it all complete soon.

The table is a two piece rather than a typical butterfly design so it rotates clockwise through 90 degrees as you look from the cameraman's POV. I will sort some storage pics once the flyover has been secured to the table.

This is awesome.

Any videos of it up and running?
Sorry about the quality, mobile phones and artificial lighting don't mix well. At least from this you get an idea of how the cars lap the circuit. Just like 1:1 ROC the start/finish straight is covered twice each lap and is the only place you can really tell who is in the lead.

Hi Simon
It's just these particular cars, they are Carrera which have a much larger guide than other brands. I have trimmed them a little already but it looks like they could do with a bit more taking off. Good advice about copper tape though, I have heard that it eliminates continuity issues.

Do you have any folded pics?
Moved it indoors today so here is a pic of one of the tables folded and on the move, plus a few other angles.

Replaced the old Focus with some authentic ROC cars.

Nice set up. Takes me back to my youth trying in vain to build a Silverstone replica track.
The trouble with 1:32 is you need a gymnasium to build an accurate Silverstone, ROC tracks are one of the closest you can get to scale.

Do you have any build pictures?
Not many.

The lanes are not the same length but are equal in terms of lap time due to careful use of barrier assistance.

I will see if I can find the correct track plans.

Any chance you could give us a list of track pieces required to build it? Pretty please? smile

The right hand side has a chicane to equal the lap times, the lapcounter is modified to fit in the centre, and the Powerbase is actually 2 car analogue.

As Scalextric barriers were not suitable for this replica and there was insufficient room for them I used these and cut 'teeth' out of the part that lay flat under the track to enable it to bend around corners.
