R/C Tamiya Porsche 911 GT2

So at the end of the road I live on the house is being repaired and there is a skip...Today I had a day away from work to go collecting for the RNLI in Manchester which meant jumping the train rather than driving to work.
As I approached the skip I saw an old Tamiya RC box so stopped to have a look as I do like these old things, upon closer inspection I found the car, 90% complete alll the remaining parts, oil for the dampers, old school speed controller etc etc!
It is now at home! Does anyone remember them? this car is painted (very well) in black and a couple of the stickers are on (lights mainly) Everything appears to be there, the tyres have never run!
I intend to pull it down and re-build it from the start to check everything is correct and add a digital speed controller.
So who remembers them? Is it worth building? the shell is perfect as are the wheels.

Well I bought a speed controller and serviced the chassis.
There were several build errors that I sorted out, lubed everything up stuck a 7.2v battery in and away it went! The servo is reversed for some reason, I might replace it with an Acoms one and see if that works better?
Anyway, rubbish pic of rather cool car, total outlay so far is around £20

I know about the switch, it drives fine reversed I just have to remember when I sawp back to the Hornet or it will be messy!
It is indeed a Taisin car, still have the box and decals but I am leaving it as is. looking around on the web the good bits are the perfect BBS wheels, the ultra rare rear spoiler and the gearbox casings are grey.
I have it set up 4x4 and it goes and handles well but I may strip it back to RWD and see if it will drift! the there is a brushless motor in the wings......
