Mounting 1:43 models in picture frames

Hi all,

I have some 1:43 models tucked away in a drawer and it seems like a waste. I've reached a compromise with swmbo that they would look nice mounted in side profile in a deep frame.

I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or advice on the best way to do this? A fall back would be to mount them so that the tops were visible, similar to this:

But I'd rather do them in profile if possible.

Just to update, Ikea have frames that do the job
