So reccomend me a big model racing car to build ....

I have a new flat with some new furniture including a console table (never heard of one of them before!) which has a bloody great space on it that screams model racing car to me.
Now, apart from a dabble with a Revell Audi R10 (1:24 I think) I haven't built a model in ages so I'm a long way out of touch with what's good these and I'm looking for suggestions for a model (maybe 12-14" long) that would be a good reintroduction. If it helps my favourite ever build was 1:12 Tamiya Lotus 72 when I was about 14 (so 36 years ago) and I'd love something of that complexity.
Pref F1 or Le Mans car and not too modern ... any ideas?
