Tamiya RC buggy / truck options for around £200?

Afternoon all,
I enjoyed my RC cars when I was younger and fancy building another one much the amusement and bewilderment of the missus (what mid life crisis dear....). I've no intention of competing in races and I'll get as much fun from building the car as running it. I have a budget of around £200 - £225 and that needs to include the kit, the radio gear, batteries and chargers.
Anyway I always loved Tamiya kits when growing up so would like to get another. The front runner is the Subaru Brat but not sure how the re-release compares with the original?
Always liked the Blackfoot but was never keen on the Lunch Box or the Midnight Pumpkin. I don't think you can get the Blackfoot new?
I also have a few questions of batteries and speed controllers. Are most speed controllers electronic these days? How do they deal with running through puddles or wet grass?
Batteries - What run time can I expect from a modern set up?
