Morning All

I'm a PH regular, but a French noob so I do apologise as I'm asking on behalf of a friend of the OH.

They have a 2004 Renault Grande Scenic with a 1600cc petrol engine, and the card type key fob.

It has random electrical faults that have stumped the garage, and they're loathe to throw more money at it if garages can't help. The symptoms are as below:

i) Occasionally won't start
ii) Headlights work of their own accord when engine is on
iii) Wipers do the same as headlights
iv) After it starts, has been run, has random wiper/headlight sessions, you turn the engine off, come back to it, and then it won't start.

Due to this being the family wagon, and them having 3kids and a commute, they've SORN it as the risk of running it was too great - I.e. her getting stuck with the kids in the sticks (they live miles from anywhere).

So PH massive, any ideas?

I suggested getting a local trusted auto-electrician involved...... As the backstreet garages are confused, and the Renault dealership in this area is run by the Ford franchise owner, and is ste.

Thanks in advance.

Might be a stupid question but is it specced with auto lights and wipers? If it is they can be switched off manually. As for the non-start I'd not like to guess without more info could be anything from coil pack to key fob. Had fault codes read?
Auto wipers/Lights - Don't know - Will ask.

Starting - I though immobiliser/card system as that'd explain randomness AND the other electrical gremlins
