clio 1*2 vs megane 225

As an ownership prospect, what are the pros and cons of both, in terms of expense, enjoyment usability and comfort?

So a bit more detail, I'd be looking at a phase 2 172 or a 182 or a boggo 225.

Would be looking for one with cruise control and aircon.

Currently driving a 1.2 clio (not a big jump, had an mx5 too) so size isn't a problem. Would like the comfort of a 6th gear but not that big a problem if its got lower running costs.
