Slow starter.

I`m hoping for a little advice from some electrical gurus, I have a Renault grand scenic 1.5 dci and it turns over on the starter but sounds very slow. I have fitted a new battery but it still struggles to turn over, am I right in thinking it could be the starter motor itself that is playing up, many thanks for any help.

Before you change the starter motor put an earth lead from the engine/gearbox to the battery.A good heavy duty jump lead will do.

Thanks Paul, maybe the earth strap has a high resistance I never gave it a thought.
