Hi Luke , i run a 205 gti , purchased it last year from a chap who had a 406 sri turbo engine installed , the mounts are the proper ones , custom exhaust and so on.

I am running a gizmo boost controller and it is tweaked to 0.97 bar , that equates to 197 bhp and 250 ft pounds of torque.
The pick up is pretty savage as theres very little weight and as the 406 turbo engine is designed as a lazy torquey engine it picks up hard in any gear.
The engine itself is pretty much at the ceiling of what performance i can extract without beefing up the internals.
I may change the engine management in the future , really just to smooth it out.
Its great fun though!
The guy that fitted the boost controller has a friend running 400 bhp from a Pug 306 gti6 engine with a turbo added.
A lot of guys are going for that one for big power.

Hope that helps !

Gti6 with supercharger by lynx seems the normal way to 400bhp but the gti 180 turbo engine goes in there well.

The best engine in my opinion to suit the chassis is gti6 with throttle bodies, aftermarket ecu and a little tweaking of cams. Speak to miles at pug racing. The turbo engines corrupt the balance and throttle adjustability of the 205 in my opinion. 200bhp makes them fast enough.

I also have a 4x4 cossie one with 469bhp

Corrupting the balance is what its all about !

You dont stuff 200bhp in a 900 kilo Pug and expect a serene driving experience . I love the way mine goes

Is the Honda engine (and I guess, gearbox) an easy swap?

205 GTi + Honda red top (B16/18 or K20 would do me) = heaven!

Wow. I'm guessing that's the 2 lite engine if you're getting that much power. How do you think it would work in a road car? Too noisy? Enough room for all the other stuff in the engine bay?
