Hi all,

New to this and looking for some of your expert advise. I'm looking to buy a 205gti. They're becoming very rare in Ireland. Anyway I viewed one today. A 'barn find ' so to speak. Guys had it 4 years and never drove it. Passed it's Nct(MOT) and parked up since then.
So I went to see it. Few issues. One it wouldn't start even with a batt pack but it was turning over so I'm not too concerned with that after standing for so long. Main concerns were it had a shunt on the off side front and the repair didn't look great. On the wing itself or the weld on the engine bay. Also the main worry was the back wheels had 2 finger clearance on one side and barely one on the other. Axle or torsion bars?
Basically what I'm asking is do I walk away or ar these issues not major? Price is about 4000 pounds. I realise I've probably explained this woefully so thanks for the help. Barr those 2 issues it has the usual small cosmetic bits that come with a 25 year old car. Also no service history.

Cheers guys.

Cheers for the reply. I'm looking for a 1.9. They're becoming very rare here. There's only 1 for sale online in the country. A couple of Cti's but defo don't want one of them. The 309's are like hens teeth aswell. I may have to try and get one in the UK and bring it back. But they seem to be fairly expensive there too.

Hey Cheers for reply. Fingers were caught between the tyre and the rear bumper like you said which is good. Funny thing it was only on drivers side not the passenger side. No creaking either. Checked the gap between the inside of the tyres and the wheel arch and they weren't rubbing but fairly close to it! Tyres were fairly flat alright though so I was putting it down to that. The crash damage was putting me off though. I'll try and post a pic of it
