So my father (in his 70's) bought a 206 GTi (140) in 2002 from brand new and it's done 20k, maybe a smidge over. It's spent its life in a garage and even though it's been a long time since he was able to drive, he's kept it pristine. Any bodywork issues got dealt with, anything it needed, it had. It's SORN and the MOT has lapsed, but it's just sat in his garage. Waiting.

He'd entertained selling it, but isn't the most tech-savvy of individuals and I think he gave up after a few tyre-kickers and people trying to give him £500 for it.

What would you do?

I doubt that the 206 will ever get the iconic status the 205 did, as it didn't even sell well during its production run (losing out to the Clio 172, I seem to remember) so it seems unlikely that it's going to experience the significant boost in value we've seen 205's make in the last decade.

Just wondered what the general consensus was in terms of what you'd do in a similar situation. It's bright red, and having been garaged has remained red (rather than fading). It still smells new and it's original aside from a stainless steel exhaust (more for durability than performance, as he had that done when the original one rotted away).

Do we try and keep it forever and see what happens? Is there ever likely to be a market for such a thing? Or is it probably just something that'll stay up for sale for a fair while until the right buyer wants it for their own reasons?

WWYD?
