Hello fellow Pug owners!
I'm just wondering if the 206GTi (137bhp)is really rubbish or have i just got a duff car? It's a 2000 W reg,its done 75,000 miles and I have had it for 4 years. In that time it has had 2 clutches(the release thingies went) and the new clutch had to be replaced after 2 weeks because it wouldn't go in reverse. It has had a reconditioned head because all the exhaust valves were knackered, the central locking went awol-the motor in the drivers door decided not to work and now the anti-roll bars in front are making a horrid noise, not to mention the spot/headlamp bulbs needing replacing quite often and as you know that is not a 5 minute job! Apart from that oh and it runs very lumpy sometimes which could be the injectors,it's fine. Has anyone else had any of these problems or is it just me-I would be interested to know-Thanks

I don't know what caused the exhaust valves to get crisped,it had been a Peugeot fleet car before I got it with I think 63,000 miles on it in 2004. Possibilities include wrong type of engine oil used at some point or just dodgy valves. I think there was a suggestion that I don't thrash the nuts off it enough and to let my other half drive it.He has a Vectra so that is a normal way of driving for him! I did contact Peugeot to see if there had been any problems with this engine and as expected they said there hadn't. It happened at the same time as the petrol problem around the south east, causing cars oxygen sensors to fail which is what I thought it was.It was mis-firing and the fuel consumption was worse than my old Jaguar XJS!
