Asking on behalf of my old man. Normally he would take the car to his mechanic, but our man is on holiday for 2 weeks.

The problem is starting from cold. It takes a long time to fire, almost as though it's without choke - its fuel injection, non turbo.

Has anyone got a mechanic who could look at it, around the Kingston, New Malden area, or even a mechanics phone number he might speak to?

Any help much appreciated.

Update: Dad has got hold of his former mechanic who retired back in 2007; he is round at Dads at the moment.

Thanks to Aaron's post last night, Dad checked the sensor which looks as though it was actually recently replaced, which makes sense as the problem is a reoccurance - it manifested itself originally a few months ago, and has reoccured after a period of the starting being fine.

I will update you as soon as the mechanic is finished - for information he is a guy called Mick Hall, who used to run a place called Haines & Hall in Morden, Surrey.

Hi chaps

Sorry to resurrect the thread, but the car still isn't back on the road frown

The problem has been narrowed down to (I think) the crack position sensor, or maybe its called the angle sensor.

The only problem is, the only one available is in the US frown

Having said all that, the majority of ignition related ancillaries on the car seem to be Bosch, and adopting the same logic that I apply on my SL, there must be a Bosch part number or equivalent for this part? I've asked Dad to speak to his mechanic to suggest this.

Has anyone had one of these replaced? Is there a place my dads mechanic might have overlooked?
