Handbrake trim on a Cooper

Just a quick vent to say how disgusted I was that I had to buy a whole section of the trim that sits around the handbrake itself ie. the bit you hold to apply the handbrake. The piece that broke on my wife's 2006 Cooper was just the last 'faux' chrome circular part that sits closest to the end. When I spoke to BMW I was told I would have to buy the whole section which cost £20!!!!
In these times of recycling and 'green' credentials being important I could not understand why I had to buy the lot. Disgusting but bought anyway to keep 'er indoors happy.
