The time has come when Dove House Motor Company are arranging a run out around Northamptonshire for all to show off their fine vehicles as well as ogle at some exotica that may be aspirational purchases.

Hopefully we have given plenty of notice with the run planned for 19th May, which should also allow for better weather than we are currently experiencing.

As we have previously done, we are planning to meet at Dove House Motor Company, Crown Way, Rushden, Northants, NN10 6BS at 10:00am on the 19th May with breakfast in the form of bacon rolls. We will have a gentle run round Northamptonshire stopping at Sywell Aerodrome as a halfway point before making a scenic tour back to Dove House Motor Company for a lunchtime bbq.

Below are some images from the last run as a taster for you:

This is for fellow enthusiasts and all are welcome, whether you drive a milk float or Mclaren wink

Could everybody planning to join us please add your name to the list below:

1) Mclaren F1 GTR
2) Porsche 993 RS Clubsport
3) Porsche 997 C2S
4) Aston Martin DB9
5) BMW M535i

I've trusted my DB9 into Tony's tender care. Have to say the service so far has been exemplary - better than my Aston dealer by far
I've mentioned your comment to Tony, he appreciates your feedback. Many thanks smile

Looks like a brilliant turn out on the day, with a great mixture of cars. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us.

Hi Andrew, to be honest the response has been fantastic and probably more than we were expecting but we have been keeping an eye on the numbers for catering purposes and providing everyone is sensible then there should be enough food for everyone.

With regards to venue capacity, we will be trying to park people as they come in to try and maximise car parking space and utilise on road parking next to the dealership.

Due to numbers we will probably have to stagger the run with groups if maybe 20 cars going at any one time and leaving a couple of minutes gap between each group.

Great to see lots of people coming along on Sunday. Lets hope the weather is kind to us, but do bear in mind we do have a large showroom full of sports cars for people to stand in if it rains.

We have a route of approximately 85 miles in place, with an optional stop off point at the Hanger 1 Car Park at Sywell Aerodrome for anyone who gets lost.

We are providing handout maps for everyone, and we also have Tomtom and Garmin map files written. These will be emailed to anyone sending a direct message to us via PH between now and Sunday morning. As we are unable to test the map files, we have also dummy ran the route and have placed some route indicators at certain strategic points where we feel drivers may benefit. This will be explained in further detail on the handout.

Due to the number of people potentially showing up, we may have to set the run off in staggered intervals to help prevent potential traffic issues through some of the more rural areas the run passes through.

As mentioned before, we will have bacon rolls available prior to the run, and a barbeque upon your return.

We look forward to seeing you all on Sunday morning.

Any idea on what time the runs will begin ? smile
After all the bacon butties have been consumed I assume
As the weather appears to be bucking earlier predictions so far, we hope a good percentage of people on the list will show up today. We will probably stagger the start of the run, as north of 80 cars all heading through some of the quieter villages on the route will just guarantee traffic chaos, and a less enjoyable experience for drivers.

We expect to set the first 20 or so cars off as soon as people are ready. Dove House staff know the route, and we have two Porsche 911's and a Mercedes S600L all fuelled to use as lead cars.

HTH.

Thanks to everyone who attended yesterday, we felt it was a very successful day, and we are glad the run and barbeque were enjoyed by all.

Just to clarify, the Police were called by Morrisons, who had some lorry drivers object to the cars parked on the road. You may have noticed a lack of lorries stationary on our approach road, as they were not blocked. A total of 6 lorries drove past during the day, and were able to drive into Morrisons unhindered.

The 'slalom' as mentioned by a previous poster was deliberately put in place, to encourage people to slow right down on the approach to Dove House, bearing in mind the large number of people in attendance. People leaving the event towards the end may have seen and heard cars leaving Dove House in a more enthusiastic manner as the road was almost completely clear.

We are not professional event organisers, and have to work with the space and facilities we have, to try and make the day run as smoothly as possible. If any PH'ers have any better suggestions for next time, by all means contact Dove House staff, as your contribution would be welcome.
