This could open a whole catalogue of issues!

My main reason for starting this is to see if people suffer from common problems and to share them with other Northamptoners who then maybe able to help.

As you all know I own a Chimaera. Granted you could be forgiven for suggesting I am lying as hardly anyone has seen it, let alone heard the beastie!

She's been in Scotland since March as a friend kindly rubbed his hands in glee at offering to do some improvements and a few necessary repairs (common cam problem). Naturally although this saved me garage labour costs it meant I would be without my car for a while and would have my arm twisted into more upgrades. Not a problem as he's a good mate and I was happy to let him use the car for mechanical and use fun.

Sadly work for him, being self employed, took over a fair amount of his free time but the main stumbler came when all was put together and no oil pressure could be gained! This has meant that little progress has been made in the past few months.

Now, she is going to be transfered to new capable hands who are keen to solve this annoying oil pressure problem as phone calls etc proved unsuccessful! The challenge is on!

She should move next weekend. I shall not name to who yet but he is a well known face and Chim owner.

Wish me luck as I maybe able to resume my post as public nuisence next month! evil

Not that drastic Skin! The engine is generally sweet, just something wich has been changed must either be fautly or not in right and preventing oil flow.

Sorry all!

Matt, though I had answered but maybe not...

She runs but as no oil is getting through she shouldn't really run for longer than testing time necessary.

There is a completley nuts Elan in Greece owned by a guy called Costas. He's got his to over 300bhp and off the end of his speedo. I have vid clips to prove this somewhere. I had a ride in it when he came over for the Lotus Show in Donington in March.

I could take Blipi further, she's already on around 200bhp but I don't think she should take much more power as things will wear quicker. I can make her LOUD as well as pop and bang like a trooper. But instead I decided to get the Tiv!

It would seem a shame to completely shatter my Chimarea dreams and sell her straight away but money may force her early sale. I'd hope to keep her a while and see whether she proves herself worthy of my care or not. I was only around 15 when they came out and I wanted one. I achieved the dream of ownership but perhaps not all the pleasures I associated with one! Blipi on the other hand has just grown deeper and deeper into my affection!

Watch this space all...

She's with a remarkable man, a true motorsport nut with fantastic skills.

He comes highly recommended and from meeting him I trust him.

Don't think he has a garage as such. Has raced and done work for teams but I don't actually know who he is. Tivi was dropped off at his house where he naturally has tinkering facilities! It's in the middle of no-where.

Sadly that is all I can say! rolleyes

This thing sounds familiar and if so was what we packed with vasalene half a dozen times to the extent I was buying up the shops whole supply of Vasalene which only came in the little lip balm tins. Even had the humiliation of asking if they had any more!
